VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT./EMT

Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of heavy-duty trucks and in the performance of allied duties. Work involves responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of heavy-duty trucks and similar equipment used in the construction and maintenance of streets, roads, and other public projects. Performs manual labor on construction and maintenance projects as required.

Works under the general supervision of the Highway Foreman. Work is reviewed by the department head and the Board of Selectmen as required to ensure conformation with instructions and for the safety and care exercised in operating equipment.  

Proven skills in the operation and care of heavy-duty trucks and related construction equipment. Knowledge of traffic laws, regulations and safety procedures relating to heavy trucks and equipment as well as considerable knowledge of methods, materials and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of street surfaces, curb and drainage structures. Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. Physical strength and sufficient ability to do strenuous manual labor under varying weather conditions.

Possession of a valid NH CDL motor vehicle operator’s license.
Because most work is performed in the open, this person must be fully prepared to perform in all types of weather conditions. Strenuous physical effort is something required during projects. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
